Cookie Policy

Last updated: 9 May 2026 Effective date: Date of public launch of trustneracademy.com

1. What this policy covers

This Cookie Policy explains how Trustner Academy ("the Academy"), operated by Trustner Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd. on behalf of the Trustner Group, uses cookies and similar technologies on trustneracademy.com.

It supplements our Privacy Policy. Reading both gives you the full picture of how we handle your data.

2. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. Cookies allow the website to remember things about your visit — for example, that you are signed in, what language you prefer, or which pages you have already viewed.

Other "similar technologies" we may use include:

  • Local storage (stored in your browser like a cookie, but not sent with every request)
  • Session storage (cleared when you close the tab)
  • Pixels / tags (tiny invisible images used for analytics)

For convenience, we refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.

3. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories. Only the strictly necessary category is set without your consent; the rest are set only after you opt in via our cookie banner.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies (always on)

These are required for the Academy to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, access lessons, or use core features. They cannot be turned off in our system.

PurposeExample
Maintaining your login sessionSession token cookie
Storing your cookie-preference choiceCookie consent record
Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protectionCSRF token
Load balancing across our hosting infrastructureVercel routing cookies

Lawful basis: Necessary for service delivery (DPDP §7(b)) — no separate consent required.

3.2 Preference cookies (optional)

These remember choices you make to improve your experience.

PurposeExample
Theme preference (light/dark)Theme cookie
Language preference (when multilingual is rolled out)Language cookie
Last-viewed lesson / resume positionProgress cookie

Lawful basis: Your consent.

3.3 Analytics cookies (optional)

These help us understand how learners use the Academy so we can improve it. We use anonymised analytics where possible — IP addresses are truncated, no personal identifiers are included.

ProviderPurpose
Google Analytics 4 (if enabled)Aggregate page views, bounce rate, course completion funnel, device breakdown
Vercel Analytics (if enabled)Page-level performance metrics

Lawful basis: Your consent. You can opt out at any time via the cookie banner or browser settings.

3.4 No marketing or advertising cookies

We do not currently use:

  • third-party advertising cookies
  • retargeting / remarketing pixels (Meta, Google Ads, etc.)
  • behavioural-tracking cookies for ad personalisation
  • any cookies directed at children under 18

If we add any in future, we will update this policy and request your fresh consent before setting them.

4. How to manage cookies

4.1 Via our cookie banner

When you first visit trustneracademy.com, a banner offers you three choices:

  • Accept all — all cookies, including optional ones
  • Reject optional — only strictly necessary cookies
  • Customise — choose category by category

You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the site footer.

4.2 Via your browser

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings — block all, block third-party only, delete on exit, etc. The exact path varies:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Note that disabling strictly-necessary cookies via browser settings will break parts of the Academy (sign-in, course progress).

4.3 Via your device (mobile)

iOS and Android both offer device-level controls for limiting tracking. Refer to your device's privacy settings.

5. Third-party cookies

Some cookies on the Academy may be set by third parties — our hosting and analytics providers — when you visit. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review:

  • Vercel — vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • Cloudflare — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
  • Google Analytics (if enabled) — policies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell or share your data with these providers for their own marketing purposes.

6. Children's cookies

We do not set analytics, preference, or any optional cookies on accounts identified as belonging to learners under 18. Strictly-necessary cookies (login session) still apply to allow the service to function.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy. Material changes will be highlighted at the top and, where appropriate, surfaced via the cookie banner so you can review and re-consent.
